ACI

Celebrating Arab heritage in Milan

The Arabic Cultural Institute (ACI), Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Milan, Italy, was officially inaugurated on August 30, 2024, by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Ruler of Sharjah, and Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairperson of the Board of the Sharjah Book Authority.

The ACI is the result of a long-standing collaboration between Università Cattolica and the Sharjah Book Authority, and stands as the first in a planned network of Arab cultural institutes to be established in major global centers of knowledge and creativity.

While the ACI serves as a unique cultural hub in Italy for those interested in the Arabic language and its rich heritage, its role extends far beyond organizing conferences, workshops and cultural events.

What we stand for and

where we are going

Our mission

Our mission is to foster dialogue and understanding between Arab and Western civilizations, strengthen cultural ties, and highlight the pivotal contributions of Arab culture to global scientific, literary, and artistic heritage - an initiative supported and overseen by the Sharjah Book Authority.

Our vision

The Institute’s strategic vision is centered on building a robust network of international partnerships. It aims to serve not only as a bridge for intercultural dialogue, but also as a model reflecting the broader cultural vision of Sharjah and the United Arab Emirates: one that champions knowledge exchange, linguistic diversity, and global cultural engagement. One of its key goals is to elevate the status of the Arabic language among the world’s most influential languages.

ACI

The value of partnerships

Partnerships are at the heart of our vision. They enable us to build meaningful connections, share expertise and create new opportunities for collaboration among Arab, Italian, and international communities. We work with institutions, schools, universities and cultural organizations to develop a network rooted in knowledge exchange and the promotion of the Arabic language and culture. Our existing partnerships include primary and secondary schools across the Milan area, the Italian Ministries of Justice and Tourism, and the King Salman Global Academy for the Arabic Language. We believe that strong relationships and an ever-growing international network are essential to turning our vision into tangible projects and creating new opportunities for the future - together.
