Wednesday, July 22, at 6:30 PM, the Castromediano Museum will host the opening of "THE FUTURE IMAGE. SCAVI SULL’ORIENTE", the first solo exhibition in Italy by Egyptian artist Heba Y. Amin, presented in dialogue with the Orientalist imagery of Vincenzo Valente. The evening - conceived as an itinerant event - will begin with a conversation featuring Prof. Wael Farouq, Professor of Arabic Language and Literature at Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore of Milan and Director of the Arabic Cultural Institute. At 8:30 PM, the second inaugural event will take place at San Francesco della Scarpa, where Heba Y. Amin will lead visitors through an installation she has envisioned as a future archaeological excavation, uncovering not relics of ancient Egypt but the material remains of European fantasies about Egypt and the so-called Orient. The evening will conclude with a celebratory toast in the Cloister of Convitto Palmieri.
